Description

We have an immediate opening for a Production Project Manager for VT Plywood Operations.

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Production Project Manager is responsible for defining and implementing improvements to Carris Reels production processes and systems. Improvements may include projects in safety, quality, productivity, cost reduction and delivery systems. This position reports to the Plywood Production Manager and works collaboratively with all focus areas and departments to achieve “best in industry” excellence in these areas.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Identify gaps in productivity and enlist teams of EOs to fully define root causes and propose corrections that drive increased productivity
    • Lead improvement events that engage employee-owners in waste reduction activities throughout Carris Reels production processes
  • Coordinate with Safety Administrator, Safety Director and Plant Safety Committee to analyze safety data, define root causes and implement corrective actions.
  • Identify gaps in training processes and develop systems to assure all EOs are properly and fully trained for safety, quality, and productivity through the development of standard work.
  • Determine root causes of challenges that result in quality rejects or missed delivery commitments
  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously in various process, buildings, and value streams
  • Be a central figure to problem solving, including analyzing the need for new systems to increase efficiency and minimize waste

 

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education/Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in engineering or related field (Bachelor’s Degree preferred) or at least 5-years direct experience driving and leading improvements in manufacturing environments
  • Experience in machining and assembly processes required.
  • Lean Six-Sigma certification highly preferred

 

 

 

Skills and Abilities

 

  • Excellent written and oral communications and interpersonal skills to facilitate work through multiple shifts / departments / buildings.
  • Ability to think ahead, plan accordingly and prepare/deliver action plans to achieve results.
  • Possess strong analytical skills and mechanical aptitude to help troubleshoot problems and implement improvement plans which deliver solutions effectively.
  • Highly organized, self-motivated, and assertive when appropriate.
  • Ability to plan, lead and facilitate Rapid Improvement/Kaizen Events.
  • Functional knowledge of and demonstrated effectiveness in implementing 5S, SMED and process improvement activities.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities and easily adapt to changing situations.
  • Possess computer skills and proficiency with the Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.)
